"The pump square" used to be the meeting place for housewives and maids. They came here to get the daily rations of drinking water which they carried home in buckets. In earlier times it was also common to wash clothes on the nearby landing bridges. The pump house and the square were re-constructed in 1990. The pump house cupola used to sit on a corner building situated at the old square in the Brage quarter. The pump wheel is the original and was a gift from the ironmonger Marklund.
