The place of birth of the author and Nobel Prize winner Eyvind Johnsons is located in Björkelund in the lower part of the city. The house is opened to during the month of July. Eyvind Johnson was born in a small baking cottage in Björkelund on the 29th of July 1900. In 1974 he shared the Nobel Prize in Literature with Harry Martinson. Eyvind Johnson died in 1976. Just follow the signs 'Stadsvandring i Eyvind Johnsons fotspår' which start at the railway station and end by the pedestrian area. The cottage in which Eyvind was born is open during summer.
