Not quite unlike Sleeping Beauty the park was asleep for a long time. But now, after three decades, young and old meet in a light, open and family-friendly environment. The old trees in the park represent an important part of its reconstruction. A large fountain with two sculptures constitutes the centre of the park. One of the sculptures, the Nymph, was bought in 1954 for 1700 SEK and used to be “at home” in the old Björknas park. In her new home now she has been joined by Prince Charming. The granite wall, as well as other details in the park, was quarried only 5 km from the town centre for the unique quality known as ”Bodensia röd”. What is special about this kind of granite is the large crystals in reddish brown tones. The walking paths are made of stones in three colours and their patterns were designed to create a living and diversified surface. The old classic dark green colour scheme is still present in many details such as park benches, lampposts, bins, cast-iron pots, drinking fountains and others.

The upper part of the park is dedicated to our three twin towns and features elements typical of each of them. Here you find slate from Alta, Norway, a block of ore from Apatity, Russia, and a red-leaved birch from Uleåborg (Oulo), Finland. The red-leaved birch (Betila pubescens Rubra) is a spontaneous mutation that was discovered on Jaako Tikkanen's premises in the early 1970s. The red-leaved birch is a sterile tree that can only reproduce artificially. The birch is now 8 metres tall.

As far away from street traffic as possible and close to the Central School, the park is a haven for children. The park's playground is equipped with a slide, swings, see-saws, and, among other things, a large wooden locomotive as a reminder of Boden's importance as a railway junction.
