In this "baking cottage" from Svartbyn the women used to bake bread together. You could also hire a so-called "bakkvinna" - a woman doing the baking for you. The baking usually took place during spring and autumn and lasted 2-3 days. About 400 loaves of bread were produced per day. Less extensive baking took place around Christmas, Easter and haymaking season, among other times. During summer time the cottage was also used as accommodation.
